Chorum provides a variety of automatic controls to suit your property's housekeeping needs and gathers the bulk of these settings in one menu for your ease of use. To access and review these settings, access the GM Functions module then select the Housekeeping menu, located beneath the Property Settings folder.

Your hotel's default settings are located on the upper portion of this menu and can be changed as needed. When finished, save your changes in the top-left corner.

The below table provides more information on each setting's use in Chorum.

Option

Description

Assign Housekeeping Plans By

This option controls how Chorum assigns Housekeeping Plans (Cleaning Plans) to guest stays after arrival, using the options your property has built on the lower half of this menu.

For hotels that decide the frequency of guest cleaning based on the duration of the guest's stay, use Length of Stay. This causes Chorum to compare the duration of the guest's stay against the Minimum Nights value of each plan, and choose the most appropriate option provided the guest's stay meets or exceeds the plan's value. See Housekeeping Plans to understand more about how exactly this selection criteria works.

For hotels that decide the frequency of guest cleaning based on other criteria, such as special package deals or add-ons, use Default Housekeeping Plan and set the drop-down menu choice to the right to the plan guests will receive normally. Be aware that this option relies on hotel staff to properly identify when guests have qualified for other plans, at which point the clerk must manually change the guest's plan via the booking's Guest Services menu (see Guest Cleaning Plans).

Suppress Guest Names on Room Assignments

While this option is checkmarked, housekeepers will not see the name of any guests occupying a room they have been assigned to clean, assuming the room is occupied.

While generally not considered a critical function, this is a must for properties that prefer to preserve guest privacy.

Display Clean All Rooms Option

While this option is checkmarked, a new button is added to the Room Status and Room Assignments menus in the Housekeeping module.

The Clean All Rooms button, when pressed, changes the assigned status of all rooms to clean, regardless of their physical state or when they last received cleaning.

Auto-Extend Maintenance Rooms

Checkmarking this option disables the Available Date column functionality in Out of Order requests (see Out of Order Rooms), which were referred to as Maintenance Rooms in past versions of Chorum. While the column will still appear in the Out of Order menu and can still be configured, the only way to re-add an out of order room to inventory is to delete the request holding the inventory when resolved.

This feature primarily supports properties who routinely add long term out of order requests with no concrete end date and do not need to retain out of order records for any length of time after resolved.

If your property prefers to retain these records after the request's closure, even if only for a temporary period, we do not recommend enabling this option. Instead, should a request's estimated Available Date be pushed back to a later day (such as extended renovations or other similar circumstances), update the Available Date to the new estimated available date.

Display LOS for Room Assignments

Some properties refer to the duration of a guest's stay (the length of stayClosed The duration a guest plans to stay with your hotel measured in nights. A guest that arrives today and departs tomorrow has a length of stay of 1 night., or LOS for short) to estimate how much work or preparation may be needed to clean the guest's room or determine when the last time the guest's room may have received cleaning was. Checkmark this option to show the total nights associated with a guest's stay in an occupied room on your housekeeper's assignments.

If your property uses Chorum Mobile, this will not only appear in reports but will appear directly on the assignment in the housekeeper's room list.

Label Needs Inspection Rooms as

This text box allows you to create a custom housekeeping status label, replacing the Needs Inspection status.

Be aware that while the label changes, the function does not - if you attempt to check a guest into a room with this status, no matter what you've re-named it to, you will be asked to confirm checking the guest into the room before the process can be completed.
